It all started when a friend of ours had a bad experience of woofing in Spain. Woofing means volunteering on a farm in exchange for room and board. The enriching aspect of this practice consists in : - learning agricultural skills - participating in the development of organic agriculture in harmony with nature. In this situation, she had been exploited by the farmer. Her story was the starting point for a long reflection on the theme of alternative holidays. There are 3 main types of alternative vacation: - eco-tourism (combining the discovery of nature with practices that respect the eco-system). - voluntourism (defined by humanitarian and ecological actions). cultural immersion (more of a personal, spiritual experience linked to nature). To better define our subject, we started a survey (37 survey participants / age range: 18 - 35). Among those questioned, we noted an initial contradiction: 84% were interested in alternative vacations but 90% had never taken an alternative vacation. Based on the responses to the survey, we focused on what people were most interested in (77% in all), eco-tourism and voluntourism. 6 interviews enabled us to refine our understanding of their needs and create a persona in the shape of them. Lily, is a 23-year-old hairdresser and mother of a little boy. The birth of her son has triggered a need for her to improve her ecological behavior. Lily has a high mental workload and a limited budget. She's also frustrated by having to fall back on services that are less ecologically committed because they're cheaper and better organized. She would like to make her family vacations more fun and educational, with activities in nature.

How might we encourage people of limited budget to choose more eco-responsible holidays? We analyzed 9 websites defined by our users as current tools for booking this type of vacation. Most of them promote eco-responsible holiday projects, more or less directly. The original aspect of the suggested holidays as experiences retained our attention. Sharing travellers' experiences is highlighted for most of them. However, giving advice on ecotourism trips is not very common, and seems to be reserved for a public that is already sensitive to ecological practices. Finally, only a third of these websites offer the option of booking eco-responsible activities as part of a trip. Our must-haves : - a strong commitment to convivial and ecological values - a choice of vacations by location but also by type of activity (family, ecovolunteering...) - taking charge of both accommodation and activities - the use of reviews, "super host" mentions and recognized labels, to raise awareness and bring people together. Brand attributes Our solution: the Clover web platform, (we did it mobile first) which lets you book vacations in eco-responsible partner establishments, with or without the option of including volunteer work for the host, offering advantageous discounts. ‘Clover’ is a genuine sharing of eco-responsible standards, combining human values with the preservation of biodiversity.

We created mid-fidelity wireframes that we had tested by 6 people to check their usability. 2 preference tests were also carried out for the visual aspect. We're targeting young working people who are ecologically aware. We chose shades of green, enhanced by warm, rustic terracotta tones with a hint of violet to modernize the look. shades GREEN = nature shades TERRACOTTA = authenticity shades VIOLET = modernity

For the home page, we have clarified the explanation of our concept in two stages: - a description of the benefits of the Clover experience a list of our values We then added several filters: - sorting by promotion - sorting by user score sorting by type of voluntary work We made improvements to the hierarchy of information highlighting volunteer activities relating to the proposed vacation destination We added the ability to modulate volunteer investment on the product page itself (with confirmation on the payment page) In the future, we'd like to develop for Clover : - an ecotourism travel tips section. - the including of transport in the holiday offer ( sorted by carbon impact) - a desktop version "Clover" is a project that has opened my eyes to the idea of eco-responsible holidays (because I'm one of those people who are not familiar with this type of holiday. So looking for an affordable solution was a bit of a challenge, and I'm very satisfied with the solution we came up with.
